Just like the good ol’ days, they are keeping prices down with counter service and collection, though everything else is legit in terms of fresh ingredients, fun and friendly service, and ample seating in smart surroundings. Making this eatery even more likeable, Noosa owner David Hales named his latest venue after his late grandmother Betty Anderson, who knew a thing or two about flipping burgers in her time. The casual new GC-based restaurant, located on the exterior of Surfer’s Paradise’s Chevron Renaissance Shopping Centre, is funky and inviting with colourful furnishings and prints, fragrant with potted hanging ferns lining the ceiling, festoon lights, and rubbed-back white panelling detail resembling a retro beach shack. Add sides like beer-battered onion rings or a chocolate peanut butter thickshake, and you’ll be mentally ticking Betty’s off against the competition for best burgers on the Gold Coast.īetty’s secret ingredient is the other half of its namesake Concretes are essentially frozen custard ice cream desserts adorned with a titillating selection of candied treats and cakes, like the Baked Apple Pie (vanilla custard, baked apple pie, and caramel sauce), or the Mint Choc Fudge Brownie (chocolate custard, mint cookies, brownie chunks, and chocolate fudge sauce). Perhaps it was because they were offering up a seriously sweet value feed on ritzy Hastings Street, with all but one of their burger options selling for just $10 and $11 each ($7 for kids). At the time, which was an hour before lunchtime, it was already buzzing with couples of all ages and young bronzed families ready to hit the beach. We first wrapped our mouths around one of Betty’s delectable burgers, the southern fried Crispy Chicken if we remember correctly, when in Noosa last month. Now, before you go thinking Betty’s Burgers is just another chain-like restaurant to pop up in Surfers-after all, its branding and cute packaging is pretty slick-hear us out. ![]()
